CMS Central Hadron Calorimeter
We present a description of the CMS central hadron calorimeter. We describe the production of the 1996 CMS hadron testbeam module. We show the results of the quality control tests of the testbeam module. We present some results of the 1995 CMS hadron testbeam. The design of the CMS detector starts with the 4 T solenoidal magnet of length 13 m and inner diameter 5.9 m. The magnet determines many...
متن کاملHigh Pt hadron-hadron correlations
We propose the formulation of a dihadron fragmentation function in terms of parton matrix elements. Under the collinear factorization approximation and facilitated by the cut-vertex technique, the two hadron inclusive cross section at leading order (LO) in e+ eannihilation is shown to factorize into a short distance parton cross section and the long distance dihadron fragmentation function. We ...
متن کاملHadron Correlations and Parton Recombination
Parton recombination has been found to be an extremely useful model to understand hadron production at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. It is particularly important to explore its connections with hard processes. This article reviews some of the aspects of the quark recombination model and places particular emphasis on hadron correlations.
متن کاملHeavy-Quark Correlations in Photon-Hadron Collisions
We describe a next-to-leading-order calculation of the fully exclusive parton cross section at next-to-leading order for the photoproduction of heavy quarks. We use our result to compute quantities of interest for current fixed-target experiments. We discuss heavy-quark total cross sections, distributions, and correlations. CERN-TH.6921/93 June 1993 On leave of absence from INFN, Sezione di Mil...
متن کاملIntrinsic Transverse Momentum in Di-hadron Correlations
We study di-hadron correlations in proton-proton collisions at √ s = 200 GeV and interpret experimental data in terms of a fragmentation width and a momentum imbalance. A fragmentation width of 580 ± 50 GeV/c is obtained, and the measured momentum imbalance gives an ‘intrinsic’ transverse momentum width of partons in the proton of 2.6± 0.2 GeV/c. Consequences to heavy ion collisions are discussed.
